Health Alert!!! DES Daughters Have Increased Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease

Recent research shows that DES daughters are 67% more likely to have coronary artery disease; twice as likely to have a heart attack (myocardial infarction); but are at no higher risk of stroke.

Published in Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism in January 2018, the study is part of the (US) National Cancer Institute’s DES Combined Cohort Follow-Up Study that has been tracking the combined cohorts over many years.

When comparing the DES daughters with the control group of unexposed women, they conclude “these data demonstrate associations in women who have prenatal DES exposure with CAD [coronary artery disease] and MI [myocardial infarction], but not with stroke. This appears to be independent of established CVD risk factors [hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol].
